Multan: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has launched a crackdown against illegal hoardings in the city, reported a news source. PHA Director General Waseema Umar issued the order for this operation.

In carrying out their assignment, the PHA staff removed illegal banners, streamers and billboards from various parts of the city. The areas impacted include the Kacheri Flyover, Chungi No. 9 and 6, Bosan Road, Gulgasht Colony, and Gol Bagh. Speaking to the media, PHA Marketing Deputy Director Khurram Jamil said that the operation will continue to curb the practice of setting up illegal billboards.

As instructed by PHA DG Umar, the authority’s staff also confiscated illegally put-up marketing material. In addition, notices will also be issued to the marketing firms managing old and worn-down billboards.

The PHA further informed that in the process of registering their marketing firms, some companies had submitted bogus documents. At present, the PHA staff is scrutinising these documents closely. The authority has also made it clear that it will only approve the operations of marketing firms which follow the established bylaws for billboard marketing.
