Rawalpindi: The authorities concerned have launched a crackdown against housing societies who have not paid their due stamp duties – a news source reported.

The revenue department has notified the owners and developers of 30 housing schemes to this effect. It has asked these schemes to pay stamp duty charges, or face legal action.
The department previously issued notices to the developers of 18 housing schemes. It later fined the schemes in question after they failed to submit their due charges. The officials concerned collected fines worth PKR 55 million; as a result.

Similarly, the department has directed the owners of the housing schemes identified to submit stamp duty charges within seven days. Moreover, their developers have been prohibited from carrying out any cases of internal transfer process until their dues are cleared.

Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Iqbal confirmed that the deputy commissioner has ordered a crackdown against the said housing schemes. He said that these societies were continuing to conduct the transfer process without paying stamp duty charges.
