Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari on Thursday revealed that the government would soon launch a crackdown against illegal societies identified for cheating expatriates out of their money, a news source reported.

The SAPM took to Twitter to make the announcement pertaining to the crackdown planned against illegal societies found involved in ‘selling to overseas Pakistanis through external channels’; which included expos, overseas offices, and digital platforms. He highlighted that such channels offered fake investment opportunities to those residing abroad.
Bukhari said that the government would not ‘allow anyone to cheat innocent overseas Pakistanis’. He added that it would soon a share a mechanism for the provision of better real estate investment channels.
Meanwhile, the government has been working on establishing the first-ever ‘fast-track’ court in Islamabad. The aim of this court is to ensure the speedy recovery of properties owned by overseas individuals from the land mafia.

The Ministry of Law & Justice has already received the summary for the project. Once it approves the official definition of an overseas Pakistani, it will forward the draft to the cabinet and the parliament for their approvals.
