Islamabad: The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing stated that energy and infrastructure projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiate are either complete or near completion, a news source reported.

The Chinese envoy revealed the information while addressing a ceremony at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI) on Monday. He stated that completion of CPEC Phase-I has established a strong foundation for the next phase. He added that Phase-II would focus on setting up Special Economic Zones (SEZs), along with enhancing cultural and trade ties via exchange of delegations and joint ventures.
Jing highlighted that the development of SEZs had already entered an important phase. He added that both sides were making efforts to ensure successful industrial cooperation between one another.

The Chinese ambassador opined that CPEC represented a unique model for trade, development, and connectivity. He said that CPEC was a significant part of the Belt & Road initiative. He also advised the private sector to participate in strengthening the trade ties between the two countries.
