Islamabad: The growth in the Information Technology (IT) sector in Pakistan is expected to multiply due to infrastructural development initiated under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a news source quoted a spokesperson from the Ministry of IT.
The ongoing telecommunication schemes under the Corridor include a cross-border Optic Fiber Communication (OFC) System between Pakistan and China. The OFC System will facilitate international connectivity of voice/data traffic and it will provide seamless Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication coverage along the proposed Gwadar-Khashghar Economic Corridor and the existing Karakoram Highway in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The spokesperson also stated that the construction of roads, dams, ports, and related developments has given a boost to the economy of Pakistan and all of it is bound to benefit the IT industry. CPEC has turned Pakistan into an attractive market for people extensively using mobile-based applications and similar products. The country is ready for state-of-the-art development and ubiquitous connectivity structure, where teledensity is over 71% and is increasing every month, he added.
