Karachi: Chinese Consul General Li Bijian stated on Monday (December 07) that most projects launched under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have been completed and Gwadar has become more important in the region, news sources reported. He also emphasised the different development and infrastructure initiatives under CPEC in the country, including the airport, hospitals, and training institutes.

As per the source, the ambassador stated during a visit to the office of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) that owing to the energy projects under CPEC, Pakistan’s energy crisis is now over, which would enhance industrialisation. The ambassador also emphasised the numerous trade and export potential in the fields of information technology (IT), fruits and vegetables, the seafood industry, and other items. He said that China has a booming 500 million middle-class population that Pakistan’s export business should engage. He also emphasised the CPEC investment in vocational education and training in many areas under CPEC.

Furthermore, when discussing the Gwadar Airport project, he stated that development on the project is 90% complete, with the facility expected to be operational in 2023.
