Gwadar: National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) Director General (DG) Vice Admiral (retired) Abdul Aleem HI (M) on Thursday (July 28) said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an opportunity for the improvement of Balochistan’s socio-economic dynamics and infrastructure, news sources reported.

He shared his views on a webinar titled ‘Development of Balochistan under the CPEC’. The director general further said the initiative has given Balochistan a dimension relevant to economic growth, which would strengthen the region’s infrastructure. He said constructing projects under CPEC will usher the area into an era of connectedness, with Gwadar serving as a connectivity centre. In addition, these initiatives will boost regional connectivity by linking South Asia to Central Asia, China, and the Middle East.

It is worth noting that Pakistan and China have partnered to make Gwadar the country’s largest seaport. The project includes the development of road infrastructure, energy corridors, agricultural innovation, and industrial zones.
