Islamabad: To keep food items from rotting on their way to and from the Gwadar Port, the Government of Pakistan has decided to build international standard cold storage facilities on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, reported a news source. The details on the project and its financing will be discussed in a meeting of the CPEC and Agriculture’s Working Group.
These storage facilities will be built throughout the CPEC route in the country on a priority basis. The project is part of the government’s long term plan for CPEC. Under the economic corridor, Pakistan will export eggs, honey, meat, fruit, and agricultural products to China, while these cold storage facilities will ensure that the food items don’t expire on their way.
