Islamabad: The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) will establish a separate wing for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, a news source quoted. Senior officials of the AGP announced this development in a briefing to the subcommittee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The briefing also included suggestions on enhancing the capacity building efforts of the staff of the audit department. Also, member committee Riaz Fatyana suggested that audits should be conducted on AGP officials too.
The AGP officials also filed their complaints during the briefing. They said that other federal departments promote employees to grade-21 after the age of 52. In comparison, AGP officials have to wait till the age of 58 for the same advancement. The complainants noted this as a serious case of discrimination.
Meanwhile, China has decided to start several welfare projects under CPEC. These will include initiatives for healthcare and labour support.
