Islamabad: CPEC Authority Chairman Retired Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa on Saturday informed that the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will visit Gwadar to check on the progress of projects started under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase 2, according to news sources.

During a visit to project site of Hoshab-Awaran Road, the chairman emphasised that the development of Gwadar is a key priority for the PM. He also stated that road development in Balochistan is critical since it would boost Gwadar port’s connectivity with the rest of the country.
Retd Lt Gen Asim Bajwa told the media that more than 70% of the construction work on the Baseema-Khuzdar route has been completed. This is a significant project since it will link Gwadar to the rest of the country. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of the ongoing year.
Furthermore, the government is striving to address the problems that the people of Balochistan are experiencing as a result of a lack of essential civic facilities like as electricity, education, communication, health, and drinking water.
In addition, Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan authorised a PKR 600 billion programme to help the underprivileged. The revitalization package includes several development plans developed in collaboration with the provincial and federal administrations. Currently, work is being done on 80 different schemes.
The Chairman, Retd Lt Gen Asim Bajwa, said that a 150MW project on Gwadar is under construction to supply electricity to remote areas. Aside from that, work is being done on a number of initiatives aimed for provision of clean drinking water.
In order to shed more light on the progress in Balochistan, the chairman announced the construction of 31 dams in nine districts. Work on 15 dams has already begun, and development on other dams will begin soon.

Mr Bajwa also noted that building work at Gwadar Airport is ongoing. Once completed, the airport will be able to accommodate large cargo planes and will be equipped with advanced communication systems to expedite port operations.
