Islamabad: Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Lieutenant General (rtd) Asim Saleem Bajwa on Thursday stated that the second phase of the initiative would significantly boost foreign investment in the region, according to a news report.

He made these statements during an agreement-signing ceremony held in Taxila. The event featured the relevant representatives from various Chinese companies and the CPEC Authority, who signed an agreement regarding future projects under the CPEC initiative.
General Bajwa added that the second phase of the venture would help revamp the country’s infrastructure. Under this phase, the relevant companies are expected to lay down new railway tracks, and extend existing ones; which, in turn, will help improve the situation of the Pakistan Railways.

Bajwa further revealed that the projects under the first phase of CPEC were being completed on a fast-track basis.
