Islamabad: The Joint Working Group (JWG) on Industrial Cooperation, one of the seven bodies working under the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, recently held a meeting to discuss the proposed revival of the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), a news source reported.

Previously, the federal government had announced its decision to revive the now-defunct steel-production facility. During his latest visit to China, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had decided to hand over the project to the Chinese authorities through a government-to-government agreement.

Further, the meeting agreed to enhance industrial cooperation, business-to-business linkages and Chinese investments in Pakistan. As per officials, Beijing aims to improve the industrial competitiveness in Pakistan through the transfer of technology to the latter’s industries – as well as through the introduction of management training programmes.
