The ambassador spoke into China Global Television Network (CGTN) and informed that a double quarantine system was established to ensure that the Chinese workers returning to Pakistan do not infect others. She informed that 90 percent of the projects in the first phase were commissioned already, while the remaining would be completed within a few months.

Hashmi informed that the double quarantine system proved beneficial as not a single COVID-19 positive person from China reached Pakistan. She also emphasised the significance of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and associated projects for both economies and stressed that the work on the projects should not be halted under any circumstances.

Hashmi further informed that as it was not practically possible to test the entire population for coronavirus infection, Pakistan had employed the Chinese model to monitor the individuals and populations which showed signs of infection and trace possible contacts and then, put them in self-quarantine to save others from catching the viral infection.
