Gwadar: The Parliamentary Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) held a meeting on Sunday (March 21) and the same was presided over by the chairman, Sher Ali Arbab. The committee recommended accelerating the construction of the New Gwadar International Airport. Notable people in attendance were MNAs, Mr Sadaqat Ali Abbas, Noor Alam Khan, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Zahid Akram Durrani, and Muhammad Aslam Bhootani, a news source reported.

Mr Sher Ali directed that efforts made by institutions participating in the enterprise should be expedited so that the Chinese participants can be given a proper timeline for the project. The chairman stressed that the completion of the new airport was an utmost priority in order to attract investors and to take advantage of the strategic location of Gwadar.

The committee was also briefed about the various infrastructure, energy and socio-economic development projects for the port city under the CEPC. Furthermore, the committee decided to hold a special meeting with other stakeholders to sort out energy related issues, in order to avoid any complications in the many projects situated in Gwadar under CPEC.
