Islamabad: Chairman Parliamentary Committee on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Sher Ali Arbab has urged the government to develop a quick mechanism to resolve the issues related to plots’ sales and cancellations in the special Economic zones (SEZ), news sources reported.

While chairing the 37th meeting of the Parliamentary committee, he was briefed on the issues of security measures available for the projects under CPEC. The committee was told by the ministers regarding the security lapses and the subsequent reluctance of the businesses to establish industrial units. In response, the members of the committee insisted that provisions should be made for ease of doing business (EDB) to make SEZ an attractive opportunity for foreign and national investors. The committee also proposed its plan of solving the issues on a war footing basis to facilitate progress.

Moreover, the committee was informed about the up-gradation of the Electric Traction (ET) components of the Mainline (ML)-1 project to make it sustainable. The said meeting was attended by several parliamentarians from treasury and opposition benches.
