Islamabad: The Parliamentary Committee on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has directed authorities concerned to speed up the work on economic zones, a news source reported. The committee has also asked them to submit a business plan during its next session.

The sources revealed that the committee discussed the issues related to economic zones under the CPEC initiative. During the meeting, officials from the Ministry of Planning briefed the committee about CPEC projects.
Committee Chairman Sher Ali Arbab stated that the provision of electricity would be ensured to the economic zones. He added that Pakistan had great potential in the agriculture export sector, and such exports should be increased.

Arbab informed the meeting that the agriculture sector would be promoted under the CPEC initiative. Appreciating the CPEC programme, he said that it had the potential to become a game-changer for the region. He also asked the authorities concerned to focus on the Faisalabad, Rashakai, and Dhabeji economic zones.
