Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has directed the departments concerned to make the CPEC Cell more effective in order to facilitate the province’s economic growth, a news source reported.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting. Provincial Minister for Finance Hashim Jawan Bakht, Economic Advisor Dr Salman Shah, chief secretary, and P&D chairman were all present at the occasion.
The officials concerned gave briefings on various proposals with respect to the promotion of economic activities and generation of job opportunities in the province.

In response, CM Buzdar called for preparing an effective strategy on the multi-billion dollars (CPEC) project in a bid to maximise benefits of the transnational initiative.
He stressed on the need for collaboration between Punjab and China to develop sectors such as vocational training, agriculture, education and energy.

The chief minister said that China has taken unprecedented steps for overcoming the poverty issue. He added that the Punjab Government would benefit from the Chinese model to overcome poverty in the province.
