Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CCoCPEC) on Thursday (February 17) approved several projects including the establishment of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Business & Industrial Cooperation Tower and realignment of Karakoram Highway (KKH) from Thakot to Raikot, according to news reports.

The said meeting of CCoCPEC was chaired by Minister of Planning Development & Special Initiatives Asad Umar and attended by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on CPEC Affairs Khalid Mansoor, Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, and other relevant stakeholders.
During the meeting, the development of CPEC Business & Industrial Cooperation Tower in Islamabad on a Public-Private Partnership basis was approved. The meeting also discussed the implementation plan to vacate Pakistan Coast Guards and Pakistan Navy land at Shamba Shamail, Gwadar. Planning & Development Minister Asad Umar ordered the relevant stakeholders to hand over 52 acres of land. It was disclosed that the authority concerned wants to keep 20 acres of land for security purposes.

Moreover, the planning minister also directed National Highway Authority (NHA), Ministry of Communication and relevant stakeholders to timely provide utilities for CPEC Special Economic Zones (SEZ) so the projects will be completed within a stipulated time. The minister has given a 30-day deadline for completion of the game plan for Dhabeji SEZ, Sindh, Rashaki SEZ, KP, Allama Iqbal Industrial City, Punjab and Bostan SEZ, Balochistan.
