Islamabad: The Ministry of National Food Security and Research has formed a policy to ensure growth of the agriculture sector under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, reported a news source. The prime objective of these policy measures is to increase the per acre yield of major crops, produce value-added products of international standards, and boost export of agricultural products.
The measures taken are part of the country’s first National Food Security Policy that the ministry announced recently. The ministry will conduct tests to identify commodities, prepare feasibility reports of tradable commodities from each sub-zone falling along the CPEC routes, and coordinate with each other for the setting up of a business zone.
Under this policy, a series of training programmes will also be arranged to ensure capacity building of service providers from the agriculture sector and of rural entrepreneurs.
