Lahore: The travel industry has sought a financial relief package from Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan to mitigate the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a news source reported. In this regard, the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan wrote a letter to him.

The association has requested, in the letter, a financial package for the travel industry since it generates 90% of the country’s revenue. The letter further stated that the travel industry needs a tax relief.
While addressing a press meeting, Travel Agents Association Convener Ayub Naseem stated that the association supported the government’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, and added that in regards to the relief package, they were waiting to meet the prime minister.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has suspended the domestic flight operations until April 11. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has recorded a loss of PKR 3.6 billion in March due to the suspension of flights.
