Karachi: The Sindh government is considering re-imposing a stricter lockdown following the rise in coronavirus cases in the province and the rest of the country — a news source reported. To this effect, the provincial government is scheduled to issue new instructions after consultation with the federal government.

According to the details available, the consultation will include details regarding the new timings for various businesses to remain open. It is also expected that the government will not open public parks or other crowded places any time soon.
A meeting to discuss the ongoing pandemic situation was chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday. It was during this session that the authorities concerned decided that due to the rising number of coronavirus cases, the provincial government may need to revert to its old strategy of total lockdown.

The government also instructed the relevant commissioners, deputy commissioners and Sindh Police officials to prepare reports on the businesses not following the SOPs formulated to fight the Covid-19 spread, so that legal action could be taken against the violators. Moreover, the government is expected to make a final decision about the lockdown based on the report.
