Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday performed the virtual inauguration of the ‘COVID-19 Screening & Testing Zone’ (CSTZ) – established by the Agha Khan University (AKU) Hospital within the premises of its Stadium Road Campus, a news source reported.

The AKU’s medical and health experts were working in collaboration with the Sindh provincial government and the federal government to combat the COVID-19 spread. It was informed that the AKU Hospital had designed a comprehensive strategy to telescreen and test possible COVID-19 infections on campus and separate them from the other clinics and main hospital for checking the spread.

It was further informed that the patients would stand in modular booths separated by physical barriers to separate them from each other and the medics. These booths and barriers would check contamination amongst patients and medical staff and reduce the usage of personal protective equipment for staff.

The CSTZ is capable of conducting 300 tests per day and offers free tele-screening appointments. Additionally, those patients, who have financial limitations, would be supported through Patient Welfare and Zakat.
