Islamabad: Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, and police personnel, along with several notable public figures, have pledged generous donations to provide relief to daily wagers and other deserving households amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a news source reported.

Reportedly, the Pakistani military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced that employees, engineers, and scientists associated with the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) and National Command Authority (NCA) have pledged parts of their monthly salaries to the COVID-19 Relief Fund. Additionally, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen. Nadeem Raza has pledged his one month’s salary for the purpose.

From Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan will contribute his one month’s salary to the fund. Additionally, Air Staff level personnel from all ranks and files are also expected to make their contributions.

Similarly, officers from the Pakistan Navy have pledged sections or the whole of their salaries for the COVID-19 Relief Fund. Officers of Captain Rank and civilian officers will contribute their two days’ salary to the fund, whereas Navy Civilian staff, sailors, and Chief Petty Officers will donate their one days’ salary.

Lahore Inspector General Police Shoaib Dastagir said that a relief fund had been set up in which police officials of various ranks had donated. He said that more than 50 million rupees had been collected so far to provide essential food items to the needy.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi on Wednesday pledged PKR 10 million for the COVID-19 Relief Fund; while Pakistani Boxer Amir Khan contributed PKR 40 million.
