The authorities that have requested the donations include the Edhi Foundation, Lahore Police Department, and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam of District Quetta. Edhi Foundation Manager Faisal Abdul Sattar Edhi underlined that due to the government-imposed lockdown, daily wagers, low-income households and differently-abled individuals were facing severe social problems.
Edhi revealed that an average-sized family’s requirement of ration for 15 days was worth PKR 2,000 – for which he requested donations to be deposited in any of the Edhi Welfare Centres across the country.
Meanwhile, members of the Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam stated that fortunate members of the society should openheartedly participate in helping out the less privileged during this novel coronavirus crises. On the other hand, the Lahore Police Department has begun donation collections for the ‘Corona Fund’. According to details, Inspector General (IG) Punjab Shoaib Dastagir established the fund. Reportedly, the Lahore Police officials would add over PKR 15 million to the fund.
