Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar said on Thursday (March 26) that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan is set to invite donations from overseas Pakistanis to offset the economic impact of the Coronavirus breakout, a news source reported. He further stated the PM will also request volunteers to distribute food items among deserving citizens.

The minister shared this information during a press conference held yesterday to brief the media on measures taken by the government to deal with the viral outbreak – mentioning that PM Khan would make the announcements soon.
Additionally, he revealed that a team of volunteers would be formed in all provinces; indicating that there was no current shortage of food and essential supplies in the country at the moment.

He said that the government was mainly focused on supplying these items to the needy at their doorsteps – in an effort to ensure that the lockdown protocols in place are fully adhered to.
At the same time, a meeting was being held to resolve the issues pertaining to the transportation of food supplies across the country, he indicated; adding that all the ‘provinces and political parties were working jointly to resolve the crisis’.
