Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Dr Sania Nishtar on Thursday notified that the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program had been launched across the country; with its ‘Kafalat’ beneficiaries now actively receiving cash payments, a news source reported.

As per the publication, Nishtar revealed that special arrangements had been made to maintain physical distancing at the disbursement points in order to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. The programme offers PKR 12,000 per family and a total of PKR 144 billion is expected to be distributed among 12 million needy and deserving families.

The payments will be made across the country after biometric verification of the beneficiaries for the next two and a half weeks. The disbursement points are spread across the country, including all provinces, federal capital, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The needy families can send their personal information including National Identity Card (NIC) numbers at 8171 in order to be considered for the payment. Additionally, people can get more information regarding the payment on the toll-free helpline number: 0800-26477.
