Lahore: A Lahore High Court division bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh on Monday sought the government’s reply on petitions filed against the acquisition of land at Thokar Niaz Baig, Kapurthala House and Chauburji for the Orange Line Metro Train project.
According to a news source, Advocate Azhar Siddique had moved a petition against the government claiming that the project in question was announced before the required land was acquired. Siddique stated that proper planning to protect historical sites had not been carried out.
Other petitions filed by distressed residents stated that the government was forcing them to vacate their properties without paying adequate compensation.
