Islamabad: The Power Division has decided to launch a crackdown against electricity bill defaulters across the country, a news source reported. All power distribution companies have been instructed to take active steps on this front.
As per sources, comprehensive lists of service-availing as well disconnected defaulters have been prepared by the said discos (distribution companies), which contain their complete information. Furthermore, April 30 has been set as the deadline before the crackdown begins.

According to a statement issued by the Power Division, during the drive’s first phase, the names of defaulters with more than PKR 1 million in unpaid bills will be published after deadline ends. The lists will be also be posted on the websites of the distribution companies concerned and the Power Information Technology Company.
As such, the distribution companies have been instructed to ensure that the disconnected defaulters do not get electricity from an alternative source.
The electricity connections of all defaulters will also be disconnected – if they are still found running. The discos will also look to proceed against the properties of the defaulters under the appropriate revenue laws.
