A two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad heard a petition to this effect. The petitioner contended that the city’s Dhoraji and Ghani Salahuddin roads were encroached at multiple places and that the court’s orders were not being implemented completely.
In response, Karachi Development Authority (KDA) East District Anti-Encroachment Director Zahid Bin Khalil submitted a report according to which Jamalud Din Afghani Park had been completely cleared of illegal structures. The report stated that 1,200 hoardings, 1,500 temporary setups by hawkers, 125 shops, 250 wooden cabins and 100 structures demarcating parking spots were all razed.
