Faisalabad: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General (DG) Muhammad Sohail Khawaja has revealed that consultation with stakeholders is currently underway to finalise the city’s Master Plan 2020-40, a news source reported on Wednesday (July 22). The DG also mentioned that the development authority had collected the data on the city’s future requirements to address its incumbent shortage of civic facilities.

Speaking to the officials working on the formation of the master plan for the next 20 years, Khawaja said that the plan will pave way for introducing organised and sustainable development projects to modernise the industrial city.
‘Being the third largest city of Pakistan, Faisalabad needs a strong basis for modern and reliable developments in order to meet its growth targets, and for this purpose, the Master Plan 2040 will provide the required foundation,’ he highlighted.

Under the said plan, the authorities intend to make Faisalabad a ‘city for all’. In this regard, special focus will be laid on making it ‘greener’, central industrial city will have all the required facilities to provide a dependable civic infrastructure and employment opportunities for everyone. The director general further added that the master plan will assist in the planned industrialisation growth, along with the establishment of special economic zones (SEZs).
