Islamabad: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has approved to appoint the National Engineering Services of Pakistan as the ‘Supervisory Consultant’ for the construction of an additional carriageway on the Torkham-Jalalabd Highway, according to a news source.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the NHA Executive Board held on Monday. NHA Chairman Captain (retired) Sikander Qayyum presided over the session.
The authority also announced to award the contract for operation and management of Havelian-Mansehra Highway to the Frontier Works Organisation to be carried out till June 30. The FWO has been tasked with managing, maintaining and operating toll plazas on the Havelian-Mansehra Expressway.

In addition to the mentioned operations, the organisation will be responsible for providing allied services at the expressway and collecting toll revenue. These include the provision of vehicle recovery services, rescue and first aid services, response management, mobile working, streetlights maintenance and fire extinguishing services.
