Islamabad: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Petroleum Nadeem Babar on Thursday (December 17) said that the construction work to lay gas pipeline for transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Karachi to Lahore will begin in July. The project is being carried out by Russia and Pakistan.
The SAPM shared this information in an interview. Sharing further details, Babar said that Pakistan will own majority of shares in this project; this could range from 51% to 74% while Russia will have the remaining shares. According to the SAPM, gas distribution companies in Pakistan will be part of the project while the Russian consortium will manage the construction work.

Sharing government plan on meeting the domestic needs, Babar said that the centre plans on adding 150 million cubic feet of gas per day this month. He further revealed that the government has decided to import only cleaner Euro-5 diesel from January 2021.
