Gujranwala: Commissioner Waqas Ali Mehmood has announced the administration’s decision to commence with the construction of the 43-kilometre-long Gujranwala-Sheikhupura Road project, a news source reported. As per officials, this initiative is estimated to cost PKR 1.38 billion.

The commission recently directed the departments concerned to clear the hurdles impeding the development work by October 30; adding that he would not tolerate negligence on this front. Moreover, he instructed his staff to coordinate with the related department to remove the delays.

The said road project is of immense importance since it provides direct access to the motorway. Previously, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar had issued orders to initiate the development work on a priority basis.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Dr Zeeshan Hanif briefed the meeting members on the progress with regard to the development of the Gujranwala-Sheikhupura Road. He said that all means would be utilisted to ensure the timely launch of the road project.
