Islamabad: The construction of the ‘largest transportation infrastructure’ under the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC), the 392-kilometre-long Sukkar-Multan Motorway (M-5), has been completed, a news source reported. The National Highway Authority (NHA) recently presented the Chinese construction firm, the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) which worked on the project, with a substantial completion certification.

The M-5 project is part of the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway and is designed to allow a vehicle speed of 120 kilometres per hour. This facility was recently completed, two weeks ahead of its deadline, at a total cost of USD 2.89 billion.

During a ceremony held in Multan, M-5 General Manager Muhammad Nassem Arif said that the motorway was an impressive construction, in terms of quality and engineering. He said that the NHA had collaborate with the CSCEC to complete the project ahead of its deadline fixed for three years.
