Rawalpindi: The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) started the construction work on Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project, under the supervision of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), according to news published in the national dailies on April 12.

As per the details, RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza inaugurated the construction work by cutting the ribbon at Thalian. RDA Director General Tahir Zafar Abbasi, FWO team in-charge Col. Muhammad Irfan, RDA Chief Engineer Dr Habib ul Haq Randhawa and others were also present for the momentous occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, the RDA chairman stated that the construction work on the 38.3-kilometre long main carriageway, from Baanth (N-5) to Thallian (M-2), will be completed within two years. He went on to say that the authority has granted PKR 22.8 billion contract to the FWO and has requested an expedited development pace. Additionally, RDA Chairman Murtaza informed that the project will ease traffic congestion in twin cities as it will provide an efficient and fast route for trade, which will be beneficial for the local community.
