Chitral: Lower Chitral Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anwarul Haq has launched the construction work on the main road of Kalash Valley, according to a news story published on Sunday (March 13). The inaugural ceremony was attended by National Highway Authority (NHA) Project Director Rafiq Alam, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Chitral Saleem Thaqleen, and AAC Hafizullah.

As per the details, the total length of the road will be 46-kilometre and it will be 11 metres wide. The road will feature culverts, 9 bridges, a drainage system, shoulder, and blacktopping. It was disclosed that the NHA has allocated PKR 4.6 billion for the construction of the road.

Once the road is completed, foreign and domestic tourists can access the valley without any inconvenience. The said project will provide 2,000 employment opportunities for the locals. The locals appreciated the efforts of NHA to start construction work on the narrow and dilapidated road. The Kalash Valley Road will help improve connectivity for thousands of people, mainly from Birir, Bamburet, and Rambur valleys.
