Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday announced its decision to permit the construction of three-storey residential buildings without pillars for the next six months, a news source reported. The decision came during a meeting chaired by LDA Vice Chairman S M Imran.

The meeting revealed that in order to encourage construction activities in Lahore, the authority would temporarily allow three-storey residential buildings within private housing schemes in the city. Considering the ongoing coronavirus situation in the country, the meeting also gave its approval for paying map fee of multi-storey building in instalments. To this effect, developers and builders would have the facility of paying the fee in four equal quarterly instalments.

The LDA meeting also approved the construction of 35,000 low-cost apartments under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP). The authority would construct these apartments in its flagship LDA City project. The meeting also agreed to amend the name of LDA City to ‘LDA City Naya Pakistan Apartments’.
