Shangla: The construction work was inaugurated on a road connecting Puran tehsil of Shangla to Mingora of Swat, which will decrease the distance between the two districts to 51-kilometre from 104-kilometre, according to news published on July 31.

As per the details, the 21-kilometre road is being constructed from Enawar to Kalil Kandaw – a tourist destination from Shangla. During the ceremony, former provincial minister Abdul Munimwas stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has approved PKR 2 billion for the development projects in the Shangla district. He also mentioned that the 14-kilometre road, from Aloch to Pandoria, has been completed. It was revealed that the same road was extended to Enawar, which is near completion.

It is pertinent to note that the road from Enawar to Kalil Kandaw was included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2021-2022. The total accumulated cost of the project was PKR 270 million. It was disclosed that the said road will connect Puran with Haji Baba and Mingora. The minister stated that the road will promote local tourism and bring positive change in people’s lives.
