Islamabad: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari shared that construction and repair works in Islamabad’s markets will start in phases, according to news published on June 5.

As per the details, a meeting was convened by ICCI President with the presidents of various markets to discuss the ongoing construction activities conducted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in these markets. It was disclosed that the work will start phase-wise. In the initial phase, several markets, including G-9, Abpara Market, G-11, F-10, F-11, F-6, and Melody Market, were selected for construction and repair works.
Moreover, five focal persons were appointed to serve as points of contact for coordination between the CDA and the concerned market representatives for construction and repair works in Islamabad’s markets. These focal persons include President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, Founder Group Chairman Khalid Iqbal Malik, Former President Ijaz Abbasi, Anjuman Tajran President Ajmal Baloch, and Khalid Chaudhry.
On behalf of the entire business community of Islamabad, Bakhtawari expressed gratitude to CDA Chairman Captain Noorul Amin Mengal. He acknowledged that the longstanding issue concerning construction works in the markets had been addressed by the CDA Chairman. Bakhtawari further emphasized the need for a phased implementation and urged the market presidents and officials to extend their cooperation to the Chamber and CDA in resolving this problem.

The markets in Islamabad have suffered from neglect for a significant period, resulting in various issues such as inadequate irrigation, insufficient road infrastructure, and cleanliness problems. Bakhtawari expressed hope that with the CDA’s initiative, these challenges would be overcome in the near future.
Founder Group Chairman Malik called upon the business community to offer full support in addressing market-related issues and contributing to the overall development of the city.
