Islamabad: The government has anticipated inflows amounting to PKR 50–60 billion following its notification of a construction package for the country’s construction industry, according to news sources.

According to official estimates, this relief package for the construction industry will trigger business activity across the country. If this investment estimate is realized, then Pakistan’s economy will leave worst of the COVID-19 impact behind and be on the way of development by August 2020.

Previously, over 100,000 people availed the amnesty scheme and revealed assets worth of PKR 150 billion. As a result, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was able to collect taxes amounting to over PKR 14 billion.
The major chunk of individuals who availed the amnesty scheme belonged to the construction sector. Those 100,000 people who became part of the tax net through the amnesty scheme are expected to invest in the construction sector under the new relief package.
