Rawalpindi: The demand for construction materials has almost doubled following the announcement of the Prime Minister’s construction relief package and the reopening of the construction industry; which led to various developmental projects being launched across the district, a news source reported.

The local municipal corporations have also come into action by launching work on several uplift schemes. As per reports, tenders for 360 new developmental projects have also been floated. The private sector has also begun construction work. Construction of individual homes and plazas have also begun.
According to the report, during the past three days, the sales for bricks, sand, cement, gravel, rebar and other construction materials has doubled. Private developers have submitted 210 layout plans for approval in Rawalpindi – these will be approved by next week.
The report further goes on to say that as a result of the construction activity, the allied industries have also seen an increased activity during the last week.
