Faisalabad: Punjab Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal has stated that the construction of the ‘largest Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Pakistan’ would begin soon in Muzaffargarh, a news source reported on September 28. The SEZ will be established over an area of nearly 20,000 acres, he added.

The minister was speaking to the 23rd Annual Meeting of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association. He said that the SEZ could be expanded up to an area of 50,000 acres as well.
He further stated that to provide full exposure to products of the exporters, the country’s ‘largest expo centre’ facility would be established on a public-private partnership (PPP) mode in Faisalabad. He added that land had been allocated for this purpose in the Faisalabad Industrial Estate.

He also stated that the Punjab Skills Development Authority (PSDA) had been established to provide the exporters in the country with skilled labour.
