Rawalpindi: The construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) has been formally inaugurated and is expected to be complete in one and a half years to resolve the traffic congestion issue on priority, according to media reports published in the national dailies on April 17.

As per the details, the inauguration for the ring road project was held at Mouza Banth. Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal, while speaking at the ceremony, stated that he will regularly check the progress of the project to ensure quality and timely completion. Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chief Engineer Dr Habibul Haq Randhawa and Deputy Commissioner Tahir Farooq were also present at the ceremony.

Moreover, the commissioner directed the relevant authorities to resolve the issues on priority pertaining to the land acquisition of the project. He went on to say that the deputy commissioner must mobilise all the revenue staff. The commissioner asked the revenue officers to submit a report on the grievances related to land acquisition. The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) was ordered to set up a regular camp at Banth.
