Shabqadar: The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Lt. General (retd.) Muzammil Hussain said that work on the construction of Mohmand Dam will start during this fiscal year, according to a news report. This announcement came after the Supreme Court gave directions for work to start.
Hussain visited the site and said that the dam is extremely important for the people and will be able to add 800 megawatts of electricity and store up to 1.2 million acre-feet (MAF) of water. He further added that Wapda has already completed a feasibility study for the dam, and if work starts soon, then it will be able to be completed in the next five years.
Hussain also met with tribal leaders and assured locals that the utility provider will pay the appropriate compensation to them for their land and assets which would be utilised in this construction.
