Lahore: The Supreme Court (SC) has placed a ban on the construction of houses on railways land, according to a news source. This decision was made by a three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar at the Lahore registry. Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed also attended the proceedings.

Nisar also ordered restrictions to be placed on the construction of housing societies on railways land, and ordered that there will be restrictions placed on leasing out land belonging to Pakistan Railways for more than three years.

The court has seized control of a private club due to it being illegally built on land belonging to Pakistan Railways. The apex court assigned an audit company the task of appointing new management to the club and barred the old management from entering the club.
