Karachi: The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued directives to the development company concerned to halt the construction of a high-rise building in Clifton’s Bath Island area, a news source reported.
According to officials, the developer had commenced with the construction efforts in the said locality without acquiring permits from the relevant authority. They added that any development without prior approval was a violation of Section 17 of The Sindh Environmental Protection Act, 2014.

Under the section, no development can be undertaken in a project without appropriate approvals from Sindh Environmental Protection Agency.
Previously, the EPA had issued a notice to the developer directing it to obtain the requisite approval within a timeframe of one month. However, when that was not done, EPA issued a notice stopping the construction until the approval is obtained.

The builder has also been warned that legal action will be taken against its management in case of noncompliance.
