Peshawar: Member National Assembly (MNA) Abdul Akbar Chitrali has requested the government to pursue the construction of a two-lane expressway between Chakdara and Chitral – instead of the formerly proposed cable car project from Kumrat Valley to Madaklasht Valley, according to a news source published on July 26.

Both projects have been proposed with an aim to boost tourism the region. Chitrali, in his statement, revealed that a Korean bank has agreed to offer PKR 17 billion for the Chakdara-Chitral Expressway. He opined that the expressway will also boost Bajaur – along with the two involved districts.

Moreover, the MNA also expressed that the construction of the road project will assist both local and foreigner tourist to see the picturesque valleys in both districts. He added that tourists will also be able to visit Gilgit with this proposed project.
Previously, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government had announced its plans to construct a 14-kilometre cable car project and approved the execution of a project feasibility study.
