Karachi: In the wake of recent developments, construction material costs have seen a significant surge, despite a recent decrease in petrol prices, according to a news source on October 28.

The news source shared that the cement bags are now priced at PKR 1,200 and the cost of gravel has risen to PKR 125 per sq. ft. Moreover, the price of a sand trolley has spiked to PKR 18,000 per trolley, and steel prices have reached PKR 270 per kilogram.

In addition, 1000 bricks are now priced at PKR 15,000. In response to these hikes, construction projects have been put on hold, leading to an increase in worker wages. Earlier, Former Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted the construction sector’s importance, emphasizing the government’s focus on providing relief to both the general public and builders in the Federal Budget 2023-24.
