Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Parvez Elahi has announced that housing colonies for lawyers will be constructed in all the districts and tehsils of Punjab, according to the news published in the leading newspaper on September 28.

The CM held a meeting with a delegation of the Supreme Court led by Senator Barrister Ali Zafar, Imtiaz Rashid Siddiqui, and Abid Zubairi to discuss different matters related to the legal fraternity. During the meeting, it was revealed that the families of the lawyers will be provided free medical facilities. He further added that the Public Defender Act will be made operational. Under this law, as many as 1,500 lawyers will be accommodated.

Moreover, CM Elahi announced that a parking plaza will be constructed near the Shah Chiragh building along with a service structure for the public prosecution department. The minister also announced repairing of the Punjab Bar Council and hostel buildings.
