Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill stated that construction on the 306-kilometre, 6-lane Hyderabad-Sukkur (M-6) highway will begin soon, according to news sources. Reportedly, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has previously approved the project’s revised Project Concept-1 (PC) at a cost of PKR 191.471 billion.

According to the SAPM, the project will be built on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis. In this regard, a tender for the multibillion-dollar project will be floated in October 2021. The work on the project is expected to start next year.

Previously, on October 10, 2016, applications for the expression of interest were solicited, and on February 14, 2017, technical bids were opened. The project’s initial cost was estimated to be PKR 175 billion. However, the project was postponed. The government is now preparing to re-float the tender with a new budget of PKR 191 billion.
